Residence Sauna & Hammam Project

Sauna & Turkish Bath Installation

Residence Sauna & Hammam Project

In projects such as hotels, public housing, residences, company social facilities, entertainment centers, shopping malls, etc., at least one outdoor or indoor pool and a mini SPA consisting of sauna and steam room or Turkish bath are now definitely added to the project. Sauna and Turkish bath are also included in our Osmaniye residence project.

Sauna is a therapy that can be called “Hot Dry Bath” while Turkish bath offers a therapy that can be called “wet steam bath”. In both baths, blood circulation is accelerated, the body sweats intensely, toxins in the body are expelled, the body becomes lighter, and as a result, mental relaxation is also provided. This cure helps to reduce pain in the body and relieve stress.

Turkish bath is a type of bath traditionally used in Turkish culture and found in homes in old times. Hammam can be defined as a “wet bath”. However, Turkish baths offer more than just a bath. The duration of bathing in Turkish bath is much longer than a bath and includes various rituals. For example, “rubbing the skin”, “lying on the navel stone”. More importantly, baths were established as commercial enterprises and turned into public bathing establishments and became meeting points for people. Today, baths are made for individual purposes, but they are mostly preferred in hotels and social facilities. The interior of a Turkish bath consists of several rooms with different temperatures and purposes. These rooms have a high temperature and humidity that softens the skin, opens the pores and releases toxins. Then, dead skin is removed with a scrub on the navel stone, which is a raised platform for a deep massage. In the old years, this navel stone was called "cehennemlik" under which a hot fire was lit. Then, the body's heartbeat is regulated in a cool room called "ilıklık". Turkish baths are generally made with special sulphur stones extracted in Turkey. Special sulphur stones have been used in baths for centuries due to their antibacterial properties. The Turks discovered this centuries ago. The walls and columns are adorned with various marble decorations. Hot and cold water are mixed in marble bowls called "kurna". Behind the kurnas, there are generally tile motifs reflecting Turkish culture. In our Osmaniye residence project, such a traditional Turkish bath and sauna were built as a SPA area within the social facility of the site.
